The Olympus OM-4 is a powerful, compact body that was produced from 1983 to 1987, and it was Olympus flagship camera, competing with Canon's A1. Compared to the previous generation of Olympus cameras (OM2, OM10...) it is a big step forward in features and built quality.
The OM-4 has three operational modes : a Program mode (totally automated selection of aperture and shutter speed by the camera), an "Auto" mode (aperture priority) and a full "Manual" mode giving control of both shutter speed and aperture to the photographer.
It has an impressive list of features : multi-spot metering system, LCD bar-graph in the viewfinder (to provide detailed information on the metered value), 1/2000 electronically controlled shutter, separate dials for very bright and very dark scenes, +-2 exposure compensation dial, a diopter adjustment wheel on the side of the prism, automatic exposure count reset button and many others.
Overall the OM4 has a unique set of modern electronic features in a retro-style body.
