The Olympus Pen D is a very unique camera and can easily be considered the big brother of point-and-shoot cameras : it is tiny, doesnt have millions of settings to think about, and is cheap to use.

As the name suggest, the camera is not full frame, but half frame : it shoots 72 photos from a film of 36 by using only half of the film every time. This results in smaller (if a bit grainier) photos.  It uses a 32mm f1.9 lens (full frame approx 50mm equiv.).

There is no battery and the camera light meter runs on selenium (the round "eye" around the lens). The basic functions include : choosing the ISO/ASA (maximum ASA 200), and selecting the depth of field to three settings (portrait, group or landscape). The camera selects automatically one of two shutter speeds (1/30 or 1/250), and thats it. 

This very minimalist (and very beautiful) camera very small and you can carry it around everywhere and take photos with ease.
