First manufactured in 1983, the Minolta X-500 is a simpler version of the flagship X700. It has aperture priority and full manual modes, in the same body as the X700.
It also has a major improvement over the X700 which was released two years earlier : the introduction of a display of the selected shutter speed in the viewfinder when shooting in manual mode. Instead of having to move your eye from the viewfinder onto the camera body to confirm the set speed, you can see this directly in the viewfinder and this makes the X500 a pleasure to use in manual mode.
The camera body is light and comfortable and it is a very easy camera to use.
