Released in 1994, The Contax TVS is high-end compact film camera. Just like its bigger brothers T2 & T3, it is renowned for its excellent lens but instead of being a fixed lens, its a zoom : a Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar T* multi-coated 28-65mm.
It's a user friendly camera. with only two dials, three little buttons and two LCDs.
Exposure compensation in the range +/- 5 stops is set using a physical dial on the top left controls. Focus is set with the dial on the right and has options for autofocus, 0.5m, 0.7m, 1m, 2m, 5m or infinity. There’s a small flash button which cycles through modes and a self timer slider which gives you about 12 seconds delay. The shutter release button is recessed and positioned quite far to the right of the top plate.
While it offers full automation, including Autofocus and Program AE, the Contax TVS is also a joy to use in Aperture Priority AE mode. Thanks to its zoom range and easy controls, the TVS is a joy to use for all photographers, beginners and advanced alike.
